PSO2 New Genesis: What We Learned From TGS

  • More about Sega's next generation of PSO2 Meseta was revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, and New Genesis is shaping up for a significant upgrade from the current game. There are still lots of details to be revealed as time goes one, but a few significant things like combat and the planet are much clearer. Hiro Arai from Sega was live for almost an hour to show footage off of gameplay and also talk about what new items are on the road. Not much was mentioned about the present game as well as the upgrade coming alongside NG's release aside from the graphic upgrade, which is looking fantastic.

Maps are no longer divided up into areas with loading screens. NG is going to have a completely open world in the home base to the area. The TGS footage showed a beautiful new world that is a substantial upgrade from the current game. Arai cites that distinct regions can be reached seamlessly by simply traversing the world. It looks like this is the planet Naberious in the current match, with forests being next to tundra and different areas.

Areas are still technically split up, but there's no loading between these. While it has not been directly mentioned, an open world such as this implies there might not be single celebration places . Most revealed in the footage were multi-party regions where there were other players. The cap for multi-party places has been lowered to eight down from twelve in the current PSO2, but who you see will differ from area to area.

Weather is creating a better comeback as it affects dynamically and can impact the battlefield, although the magnitude of the impact was not spoken of. Time may also change, and footage showed several nice touches like fireflies in the forests at night. There is no word on quick travel, vehicles or mounts yet, but Sega has implemented some new ways for players to move fast across this large new universe. Players will be able to run faster following a dodge both in and outside of battle. A blue series follows underfoot, so you will know you're doing it right once you see it.

The other significant addition to motion shown off at the initial NG trailer is the slide. It goes as far as some of the screenshots have left it seem. Players may get to high ground and jump off to glide and get pretty damn far through the map. Like in Breath of the Wild, you will have the ability to make you are way up a mountain to glide off from -- but minus anything alerting you enjoy endurance. It will also cause some dramatic entrances into battle. Sega already stated that gathering and crafting could be getting an overhaul, and while we didn't get a look at crafting, we did observe how much nicer it is to snag items within the specialty. Gathering can be performed on the fly, very similar to cheap meseta pso2 Dragon Hunter: World. Get close to a product, and just tap a button.
